Spent over an hour trying out different stitches and ideas. I think the buttonhole idea would have worked great if I hadn't already cut out the ellipses. I think I may have to resort to *gasp* stitching the edges of the ellipses by hand to finish them. Starting to feel the pressure of the pending day.
